REFUNDS:
Students who cancel before the start date of a course, may exchange their tuition for a certificate to attend another course or a tuition refund less than the $350 non-refundable registration fee. Students who withdraw after the course begins will receive no refund. Please note, all refunds shall be paid within 30 days upon written notification from a student of cancellation or withdrawal. Students receiving benefits from federal programs shall be subject to federal refund policies, rules and regulations.
TRANSFER OF CREDIT:
Previous education and training cannot be applied to the course offered by the New England EMS Institute.
COMPLAINT PROCESS:
Any student who has a complaint should approach their instructor. If the instructor achieves no satisfactory resolution within five calendar days, then the student may submit the complaint in writing to the Director via email at JArevalo@Elliot-HS.org. GRADING POLICY:
AEMT: CUMULATIVE GRADING: A combination of all exam, quizzes, pharmacology quizzes, homework, and laboratory grades. Exams will be calculated at 40% of the cumulative grade. Quizzes will be calculated as 30% of the cumulative grade. Pharmacology quizzes will be calculated as 10% of the cumulative grade. Homework will be calculated as 10% of the cumulative grade. Laboratory sessions will be calculated at 10% of the cumulative grade.
EMT: CUMULATIVE GRADING: A combination of all exam, quizzes, NH modules, and homework grades. Exams will be calculated as 40% of the cumulative grade. Quizzes will be calculated as 40% of the cumulative grade. The state of NH modules will be calculated at 10% of the cumulative grade. The homework will be calculated at 10% of the cumulative grade.
PARAMEDIC:
The student’s grade for the paramedic program will be calculated at the conclusion of each module as follows:
Modules 1-8: 40% exams, 25% chapter quizzes, 20% pharmacology quizzes, 10% lab portfolio, 5% homework/pop quizzes.
Module 9: Final exam
The paramedic pharmacology checkpoints will coincide with the end of modules 4, 6, and 8. These grades will be calculated as the cumulative average of the paramedic pharmacology quizzes taken since the beginning of the course. Midterm and final written exams are administered one time, and there are no retakes allowed. Extenuating circumstances will be dealt with by the Course Instructor, Program Manager and Medical Director at their discretion.
ATTENDANCE POLICY:
Students of all levels are expected to fully attend all didactic and lab sessions. These sessions will be listed in the course syllabus. Didactic and lab absences will accrue on an hour-by-hour basis.
EMT and AEMT programs: Students who miss more than 20 hours of scheduled program time will not be eligible for graduation from the program.
Paramedic programs: Students who miss more than 32 hours of scheduled program time will not be eligible for graduation from the program.
